Maria Panfila Leon, age 82 passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, in Lubbock.

A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10:00 A.M.  September 1, 2010, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating.  Rosaries were Monday, August 30, 2010, 6:30 P.M. and Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 6:30 P.M. at Mark A. Jones Memorial Chapel in Brownfield. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services are under the direction of Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield.

Maria was born June 1, 1928, to Bonifacio and Maria Estefana Grimaldo in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She moved to Brownfield in 1940 and on November 2, 1948, married Juan N. Leon in Brownfield.  He preceded her in death in October 18, 2007.  

Mrs. Leon's family remembers her as a lady who loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them.  "Ten mijo Para Una Soda." She always wanted to give them money.  She loved Christian music and loved her dog "Baby".  Her hobbies were bingo, cooking, gardening and keeping cockatiel birds. 

She was a Catholic.

She is survived by 3 sons: Manual DeLeon and wife Betty of Pennsylvania, Frank DeLeon and wife Yolanda of Midland and Jesse Torres and wife Hilda of Lubbock; 2 daughters:  Fran Garibaldo of Brownfield and Elisa Torres and husband Jessie of Lubbock.  She also leaves 40 Grandchildren, 104 Great-Grandchildren and 31 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Gloria Avalos in 1991,
3 sons, Arturo DeLeon in 2000, Alex DeLeon in 2005 and Frutoso Felan in 2002.  2 brothers, Francisco Grimaldo in 2006 and Perfecdo Grimaldo in 1947.  1 sister, Juana Gutierrez.
