Obituary for Alta Merritt Lenning

Services for Alta Merritt Lenning, 72, of Lubbock and formerly of Brownfield,
were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Addington and Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Burial was in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Alta passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born May 6, 1936, in McAdoo to Claude Lee and Carrie Mae Merritt, and moved with her family to Brownfield in 1940. Alta graduated from Brownfield High School in 1954.

She married John Perkins in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1995. She then
married Timothy F. Lenning in 1999. He preceded her in death in 2000. She moved to Lubbock about 10 years ago from Brownfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Alta is survived by her daughter, Claudia Lou Fincel of Abilene; a twin brother,
Alton Merritt and his wife Earlene of Brownfield and a companion, Don Weeks of Lubbock.
