Services for Alene Landess, 83, of Brownfield, were held Monday, Dec. 5,
in
the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Randy Land. Burial was
in
Terry Co. Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mrs. Landess died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in Brownfield. She was born
Jan 27,
1922, in Coleman and was married to C. E. "Toad" Landess on May 3,
1941, in
Coleman. He died on October 3, 1985.
Mrs. Landess moved to Brownfield in 1943. She was manager of Brownfield
School Cafeteria and was also employed at J-B's Steakhouse for a number of
years.
She is survived by one son, Elbert, and his wife, Bobbie, of
Brownfield. Mrs.
Landess is also survived by three brothers: Gene, Ben and Sam Smith, and six
sisters: Partha McMellon, Louise Kerrick, Inez Martin, Carolyn Boen, Cleo Smith
and Josie La Bonte. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Laura
Langner,
and her husband, Brian, of Knippa, Texas.
