Marie Williams Laing, 85, of Brownfield passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009. Graveside services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. A Memorial and Praise service followed at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Glen Harlin of Lubbock and Bro. Jon Patrick of Brownfield officiating.

Marie was born June 23, 1923, in Tillman County, Okla., to Newman Allen and Katie (Thornton) Williams. She graduated from Laing High School near Manitou. She married, the love her life, Laverne Edison Laing on April 20, 1940, in Hollister, Okla. Laverne and Marie made their home in many places, as they served the Lord, with Laverne as pastor of several churches and Marie playing the piano and teaching Sunday school classes in Lovington and Hobbs, N.M., Eldorado and Frederick, Okla., Vincent and at Immanuel Baptist Church Brownfield, Texas for 29 years. Marie worked many years in doctor's offices until she opened Plantalia Floral Shop, which she operated until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and a great- grandson, Levi Michael Decker, son of Sean and Amber Decker.

Marie is survived by three daughters, Roma Page, Theda and husband Tommy Decker, Marta and husband Danny Decke,r all of Brownfield; seven grandchildren, Gina and husband Michael Lummus of Herndon, Va., Travis Page of Andrews; Tory Decker Hook of Brownfield, and Taryn and husband Michael Baker of Alamogordo, N.M.; Blake and wife Jenny Decker of Van Buren, Ark., Mika and husband Marcus Wood of Lubbock, Sean and wife Amber Decker of O'Donnell; nine great-grandchildren: Kyler Page, Caleb Decker, Cody Baker, Evyn Decker, Colton Baker, Elijah Decker, Jarrett Wood, Gideon Hook and Benjamin Lummus.
