Obituary for
B. F. Hutson, Jr.

Masonic graveside services for B. F. Hutson, Jr., 83, of Brownfield, were held
Friday, March 3, in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Memorial
services were
held March 3rd, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Beverly Titus
and Rev. Don McWhorter officiating. The services were under the
direction of
Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mr. Hutson died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, in Lubbock. He was born May
30, 1922,
in Idalou and was raised in Lubbock where he graduated from Lubbock High School
and attended Texas Tech. He was a World War II U.S. military veteran
and received
an honorable discharge.
Mr. Hutson moved to Brownfield in 1942 as the manager of Pioneer Natural Gas Co.
He later resigned from Pioneer and began a private business named Arco Piping
and
Supply. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where
he sang in
the choir and was also a past chairman of its official board.
He was a member and a former Director of the Brownfield Country Club and was a
talented golfer. He won the Brownfield City Championship in
1956. Mr. Hutson
was also a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Optimist Club, Jaycees,
Chamber
of Commerce and Oddfellows. In 1957 he was the Terry County
Outstanding Young
Man of the Year.
He was initiated and raised a Master Mason of Brownfield Lodge #903 in
1955.
As a Mason, he served as Past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master.
He earned a Life Certificate in Esoteric Work and the Lifetime Achievement Award
and also a Golden Trowel Award.
Mr. Hutson was honorably crowned a 32nd Degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason.
He held memberships in the Khiva Shrine in Amarillo and the Lubbock Knight
Templars. He was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern
Star #785,
Brownfield Masonic Lodge #903 and the South Plains Daylight Lodge
#1443. He
served 10 terms as Worthy Patron of the Brownfield Eastern Star Chapter #785 and
served as Worth Grand Patron in 1987-88 for the Grand Chapter of Texas for the
Order of the Eastern Star. He leaves behind a legacy of
unconditional love and
service.
Mr. Hutson is survived by his nieces, nephews and countless friends.
He was
preceded in death by his parents: B. F., Sr. and Laura Hamilton Hutson;
4 brothers: J. B., Harper, Truman and Ben; 1 sister: Ms. Billie Soash.
Memorials may be made to the Brownfield First United Methodist Church and the
Brownfield Masonic Lodge.
