| Salomae Holgate,
97, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in
Bridgeport. Funeral service is 12:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 9, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel in Brownfield.
Burial will follow service in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under
the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers include Timothy Holgate, Todd Holdgate, Justin Holgate, Cary Young, Jeremy Young and Jason Young. Salomae was born September 27, 1912, to Walter Eugene "Buster" and Sarah Elizabeth Jacobs Steen. She married Barney Hird Holgate on March 25, 1939, in Lubbock. She retired from Lubbock ISD after 25 years of service as a pastry chef. Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Stan Holgate of Fayettville, N.C., Forrest Holgate of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Young of Decatur; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Forrest Stubblefield of Brownfield; and brother, Buster Steen of Lubbock.
