Graveside services for Joel (Joe) Wayne Herring, 81, of Lubbock and formerly of Brownfield will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Chaplin Bill McGraw officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
 
The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
 
Joe passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012, in a Lubbock hospital. He was born on March 31, 1930, in Seagraves to William Ellis and Opal Lois (Smith) Herring.    He moved to Amarillo in 1944 with his family, then to Cisco, and to Andrews.   He graduated from Andrews High School.

Joe married Patty Bell Hull in 1950. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2001. He and his wife moved to Brownfield in 1965. He owned and operated Joe's Pipeline Service and belonged to Oddfellow's Lodge, where he was District Deputy Grand Master. They then moved to Lubbock in 1999 after retiring.

Joe is also preceded in death by a son, Danny Wayne, who died in Korea in 1973.
 
He is survived by his children, Patrica Lynn Peters and husband Ken of Lubbock, Bobby Herring and wife Sylvia of Lubbock and Rocky Herring and wife Paula of Brownfield; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
