James Hubert Hardison, 75, of Brownfield passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Lubbock.  Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jon Patrick officiating.

James was born on May 22, 1934, in Amarillo to Fonnie and Eula Hardison. He attended schools in Eunice, N.M.; graduating from Eunice High School. He then attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 8, 1956, serving in Europe and was honorably discharged on November 7, 1958.

James worked in the oil fields as a salesman for Western Wireline and later for Dresser Atlas, working in West Texas, the Rocky Mountain area and Alaska. He moved to Brownfield upon retirement in 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Kenneth and Curtis Hardison, and brothers-in-law, Donnie Jackson and Freddie Mitchell.

James is survived by his daughter, Leslie Carroll and husband Jerry of Brownfield; two grandchildren, Patrick Carroll of Post and Sharlon Walton of Brownfield; seven great grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Christian, Ethan, and Seth Harper, Cheyanne Wright, and Jayden and Daniel Carroll; three sisters, Francis Nichols of Webb City, Mo., Mary Cole of Curtis, Neb., and Kay Jackson of Paint Rock, Texas, and two brothers, Bruce Hardison of Hobbs, N.M., and Don Hardison of Amarillo.
