Kleins) Gonzalez, age 75 of Brownfield passed away Friday, May 11,
2007, in El Paso. A Rosary was prayed Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. at Mark A. Jones Memorial Chapel in Brownfield. A Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 14, 2007, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial followed at Brownfield Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors. Mr. Gonzalez was born on March 12, 1932, to Catarino and Maria Gonzalez in Rocksprings, Texas, where he attended school. He was a resident of Brownfield for 48 years. Mr. Gonzalez was a salesman at Johnny Kleins Department Store in Brownfield. He was also Mayor Pro-Tem and on the Brownfield City Council. He was very involved in Meals on Wheels and was on the South Plains Association of Government in Levelland. On September 16, 1952, Lionel married Maria Elena Rodriguez. Mrs. Gonzalez preceded her husband in death on April 27, 2007. Survivors include 2 Sons: Lionel Jr. of Nicholaville, KY., and Ramiro Arthuro of El Paso; and 3 Daughters: Enedelia Cruz of Brownfield, Mary Ann Mejia of San Mateo, California, and Diana De la Cruz of Colorado. 4 Brothers: Estevean Gonzalez of Lubbock, Ameado Gonzalez of Seagraves, Albert Gonzalez of Bryan and Juan Richardo Avila of Sequin. 4 Sisters: Susie Munoz of Wellman, Eudelia Gonzalez and Brenda Martinez, both of Brownfield and Elva Davila of Meadow. He also left 15 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Leticia, 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
