55, passed from this life on August 2, 2012, in Lubbock. Funeral services for Ms. Garza are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Templo Sinai in Brownfield with Pastor Raul Gutierrez officiating. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services have been entrusted to Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield. Ms. Garza was born on December 30, 1956, to Pedro and Manuela Martinez in Brownfield. Maria lived in Brownfield until 1981, when she moved to Tahoka. Her family remembers how she loved life and always cared for everyone else's needs first. Maria was always joking with others and enjoyed working on cars. She enjoyed crocheting and collecting Indian memorabilia. Those left to cherish her memories are her parents, Pedro and Manuela Martinez of Brownfield; one son, Juan Charon and wife Melissa of Tahoka; three daughters, Angelita Garcia of Tahoka, Natasha Arredondo and husband Hector of Odessa and Maria Susana Escalante and husband Ray of Killeen; five brothers, Pedro Rodriguez and Faustino, both of Brownfield, Pedro Martinez Jr. of Ralls, Glofiro Martinez of Killeen and Flex Martinez of Lubbock; and three sisters, Blanca Ybarra and Dora Resendez both of Lubbock and Manuela Baez of Killeen. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and two brothers.
