Gayle Dean Gafford, 61, of Lubbock, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007.   Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 26, at the Lubbock Bible Church with Andrew Farley officiating. Burial was in the Terry County Memorial Park in Brownfield.

Mr. Gafford was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Brownfield to Bernadene (Gresham) and J.C. Gafford.  He grew up in Brownfield where he graduated from high school.  He then entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam, where he suffered injuries and was awarded two Purple Hearts.

Following his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated with a B.A. Degree in Business.     Mr. Gafford then worked in real estate and later as a tax appraiser for Hockley County. In 1988 he began working as a rural carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a position he continued until the time of his death.

He is survived by his mother--Bernadene Haywood; his wife--Norma Gafford; two daughters--Michelle and her husband--Matthew Moorhead and Melissa Gafford.   He is also survived by four grandchildren--Shana, Ian, and Keldan Moorhead and Kyson Gafford; and one brother--Mike and his wife--Stella.
