Edwards, of Lubbock, formerly of Brownfield, went to be with his
Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his loved ones on August 11,
2007. Roy was born on January 2, 1931, in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico.
After graduating high school he served two years in the marine
corps. He then attended New Mexico State for his undergraduate
degree and went on to earn his degree in Pharmacy from the
University of Colorado. Roy married Jeaney Anderson of Plains, Texas in August 1962. Roy's greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and family. Roy was a member and served as an Elder at First Christian Church in Brownfield. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was evidence of God's grace. He spent the days of his life serving others. He was an example of God's love to all who knew him and a humble servant of Christ. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Vesta Edwards, two brothers, Homer and Jody, and one sister, Odessa. Roy is survived by his wife, Jeaney, three daughters: Latrica Jowers and husband, Jasper, of Brownfield, Randa Reeves and her husband, Kevin, of Brownfield, and Holly Betenbough and her husband, Rick, of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Joshua Jowers and his wife Amber, Johnathon Jowers and fiance Blythe Carter, Jarisa Jowers, James Betenbough, and Shannon Betenbough all of Lubbock; Devin Reeves and Jared Reeves of Brownfield, two great grandchildren to be born Sept. 14th Lord willing. He is also survived by two brothers, Shelton Edwards of Farmington and Dalton Edwards of Rio Rancho, NM; two sisters, Ada Mae Boone of Clovis and Lavelle Wilson of Ft. Sumner, NM. Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm Monday August 13, 2007 at First Christian Church in Brownfield. Visitation with the family was held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at First Christian Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Plains Yoakum County Cemetery Association at 680 US HWY 3807, Plains, Texas 79355. Brownfield News |
