for Norma Sims Dyke, 90, of Brownfield were held at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, April 2, 2007, at Sanders Memorial Chapel, with the Rev.
Randy Land officiating. Interment followed at the City of Lubbock
Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Her grandsons
served as pallbearers. Norma passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, in Lubbock. She was born July 28, 1916, in Cleburne to the late Norman and Edna Smith. Norma's family lived in Stanford and Idalou before moving to Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1934. In November of 1936, she married Jack Sims in Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1966. She remarried in October of 1969 to Charles Dyke in Brownfield and he preceded her in death in 2001. Norma was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock and a member of First Baptist Church in Brownfield. She owned and operated a daycare out of her home for many children over most of her life. Survivors include her children, Jacquenet Boyd and husband, Robert of Hale Center, Sharon Wylie and husband Jerry of Lubbock, Ernie Sims and wife, Beverly of Arlington. and Wayne Sims and wife Tricia of Lubbock; brother, Billy Smith of Waco; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two step daughters; seven step grandchildren; and 22 step great grandchildren. Norma is also preceded in death by a stepson, Delbert Dyke, and a nephew, Clinton Smith. The family would like to thank her caretaker, Rebecca Aguilar. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
