Dunlap, 55, passed from this life on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at his
residence in Brownfield. Funeral Services for Mr. Dunlap will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Mark A Jones Memorial Chapel in Brownfield with Elder Adrian Balderas officiating. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services are under the direction of Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield. Mr. Dunlap was born to John Alexander and Bobby Jo Dunlap on Jan. 3, 1954, in Pell City. Ala. He married Mercedes Ramirez on Feb. 14, 2007, in Tahoka. Johnnie worked in the construction industry for several years before becoming ill. Those left to cherish his memories are wife and companion, of 19 years, Mercedes Dunlap of the home; mother: Bobby Jo Smith of Montevallo, Ala.; six sons: Johnnie Dunlap, Jr. and wife Natasha of Birmingham, Ala., Larry Martinez and Randy Martinez and wife Gloria of Houston, Richard Martinez and Ty Garza of Brownfield and Rene Martinez and wife Gracie of Sequin; four daughters: Joni Barnes and Husband Rich, and Joella, both of Birmingham, Ala., Stella Salinas and husband Ray of Houston and Jade Garza of Brownfield; one brother, James Dunlap and wife Vanessa of Pelham, Ala., and three sisters, Melody Sparks of Montevallo, Ala., Dora Connor and husband Ron of Birmingham, Ala., and Shantey Cain and husband Mike of Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Juan Carrillo and wife Luisa, and one sister-in-law, Olala Gonzales and husband Jesus, both of Brownfield. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John Alexander Dunlap; step-father, Marion Smith; father and mother-in-law: Modesto and Dominga Ramirez and one brother:-in-law, Billy Jo Sparks.
