Obituary for Donald Kent Davis

Memorial services for Donald Kent Davis, 58, of Wellman were at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Brownfield First Baptist Church with Rev. Buzz Timmons officiating. Burial was in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The family received visitors from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Kent passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at his home in Wellman. He was born October 12, 1951, in Lamesa, Texas to Orvis and Gloria Davis. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1970 and married Keepa Davis on Sept 14, 1974, in Lamesa. They moved to Yoakum County in 1975 and then to Wellman in 1998. He was the Mayor of Wellman and had been since 2003. He farmed his whole life and enjoyed being an Auctioneer. He was a member of Wellman First Baptist Church. Kent is preceded in death by his dad and his twin brother Brent. Kent "Pop" thought his grandchildren were the light of his life.

Kent is survived by his wife Keepa of Wellman; a son, Ben Davis and wife Rivers of Weatherford; a daughter, Katie Johnson and husband Dustin of Lubbock; 3 grandchildren, Makenna and Kace Johnson of Lubbock and Harper Davis of Weatherford; his mother, Gloria Davis of Lamesa; 2 sisters, Sandra Craven and Kim Davis of Lubbock; a brother, Phil Davis of Lampasas; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock or the ALS Association.
