Crowder, 71, of Midland, formerly of Brownfield, will be held at
1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan.4, 2007, in the First Baptist Church in
Brownfield with Dr. Christopher Sutton officiating.
Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Crowder died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, in Midland. She was born March 24, 1935, in Lubbock to James V. and Alleece Gilliam. She was married to Doyle Crowder who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister---Lois Beavers. Mrs. Crowder attended school in Roosevelt and Meadow and graduated from Plains High School. She moved with her family to Brownfield. She attended South Plains College and graduated from Texas Tech Univ. with a B.A. Degree in Education and taught school in Brownfield for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1994. She moved to Midland in 2003. She was a member of the Crestview Baptist Church in Midland. Mrs. Crowder is survived by two sons---Eddie of Midland and Vincent of Denver, Colo. and one daughter---Carolyn Viertel and her husband---Joel of Wasilla, Alaska. She is also survived by two brothers---Bobby Gilliam of Houston and Virgil Gilliam of Meadow; and by five grandchildren---Matthew Crowder of Denver, Colo.; Charissa Cunningham of Alaska; Mason and Blake Crowder, both of Midland and Cyrena Viertel of Alaska. She is also survived by one great-grandchild---Lily Cunningham of Alaska and by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
