Services for Hugh "Nobe"
Chumley, 77, of Wellman, will be held Thursday,
Dec. 22,
in the First Assembly of God Church in Denver City with Rev. Ronnie
Lunsford officiating. Burial will be in Gaines County Cemetery in
Seagraves
under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seagraves.
Mr. Chumley died Thursday, December 17, 2005, in Denver City. He was
born
January 22, 1928, in O'Donnell to Jacob and Nallie Drewer Chumley.
He was
married to Emma Baze Chumley for 32 years and was later married to Glenda Click
on September 25, 1986, in Artesia, N.M.
Mr. Chumley was a U.S.Army veteran with service in Germany during the Korean
Conflict. He was a member of the First Assembly of God
Church. He joined the
Masonic Lodge in Andrews and later transferred to the Seagraves Lodge.
Mr. Chumley was employed as a driller in the West Texas oil fields and also
owned
a full service station in Denver City. He had also been employed as
a law enforcement
officer in Andrews and Denver City, and by several funeral homes in Texas
including
Ratliff Funeral Homes in Seminole, Seagraves and Denver City as well as
Gatesville
and Odessa.
He is survived by his wife and two sons: Gary Chumley and his wife, Kim, of
Gatesville,
and Mickey Click and his wife, Mary Jane, of Roswell, N.M. He
is also survived by
four daughters: Sharon Lee and her husband, Sam of Maebank; Carol Rhoads and her
husband, Vernon, of Lubbock; Angie Click of Irvine, Calif., and Jeana Richardson
and
her husband, Jerry, of Lubbock. Mr. Chumley is also survived
by one brother: Homer
of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one sister: Nettie Bell Sword of Bakersfield, Calif.,
and by
ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by one
grandson, Callan Chumley, in 1984.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made
to the Masonic Lodge of Seagraves. There will be a visitation from
6:30 - 8 p.m.,
Wednesday, Dec 21st, at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Seagraves.
