Obituary for Jose G. Cepeda

Jose G Cepeda, age 82, passed away from this life on Friday, December 23, 2011, in Brownfield at his residence.

Visitation for Mr. Cepeda was at 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2011. A Rosary was held 6:30 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2011, at Mark A Jones Memorial Chapel. Services was 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Brownfield with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial followed at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services were entrusted to Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield.

Mr. Cepeda was born June 17, 1929, to Modesto and Catalina Cepeda in Mexico. He moved to Brownfield in 1960 and met the love of his life Elida Sanchez. They married in 1965 in Brownfield. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1996.

Mr. Cepeda enjoyed making tortillas, climbing trees and watching boxing. He was a hard worker and very outspoken. He loved his grandchildren and he always put his family first. He taught his children good values and he was the glue that held the family together.

Those left to cherish his memories are 4 sons: Felipe Lopez of Brownfield, Johnny Lopez and wife Debbie of Plainview, Joe Cepeda and wife Elva of Amarillo, and Freddy Cepeda and wife Claudia of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 daughters: Rosa Lopez and husband Jacob Lopez and Griselda Cepeda and husband David Melendez all of Brownfield; 3 Brothers: Alfredo Cepeda, Jesus Cepeda and Roberto Cepeda all of Mexico; and 4 Sisters: Cleotilda Cepeda, Maria Cepeda, Sara Cepeda and Catalina Cepeda all of Mexico. Also left to cherish his memories are 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; 1 sister; 1 son: Antonio Cepeda; and 1 daughter: Lupe Cepeda.
