Life services for Winnie Jo Burnett were held Saturday, Dec. 22, in
the Brownfield Church of Christ. Family visitation
was held Friday, Dec. 21, at the Brownfield Funeral Home.
The Lord called her home on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, after a valiant
struggle from the effects of a stroke suffered in August. Winnie Jo was born in Glen Rose and came to the Brownfield area as a young teen. She soon met a young man named Bob and together they had five children. They celebrated their 70th anniversary shortly before Bob's death. Mrs. Burnett was also preceded in death by two of her children--Buford Burnett in 1959 and Anita Schlueter in 2001. Winnie Jo had a love of music and singing and instilled that in her children. She was fond of the harmonica and taught herself to play. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She worked in sales in Brownfield for 40 years and was very active in ranching with her husband. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters--Sue Rowland of Seattle, Wash.; Lea Criswell of Lubbock and Peggy Lentz and her husband--Richard of Hobbs, N.M. Mrs. Burnett is also survived by her son-in-law--Arnold Schlueter of Farmington, N.M.; one sister--Mildred Caffey and her sister-in-law--Florine Pace. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren also great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Covenant Medical Center, Hospice of Lubbock and the staff of the Plaza for their care, "On the Wings of an Angel." Brownfield News |
