services for Dorothy Jane Burnett, 84, of Brownfield were held
Wednesday, Dec. 27, in the First Christian Church with Wayne Turman,
Todd Chambers and Rev. Randy Land officiating. Burial
was in Terry County, Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Burnett died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 in Lubbock. She was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Paris, Texas to Emmett and Ethel Lindsey and was raised in Tyler. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1939 and also graduated from North Texas State Teachers College with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics. She was married to J.O. Burnett on March 26, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. They moved to Brownfield in 1945. Mr. Burnett died on March 5, 1990. Mrs. Burnett taught school for 31 years prior to her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by two daughters---Becky Chambers and her husband---Jimmy of Brownfield and Beverly Turman and her husband---Wayne of Lamesa. Mrs. Burnett is also survived by three grandchildren---Todd Chambers, Jamie Williams and Lindsay Turman and four great-grandchildren---Emily Chambers, Macy Jane Chambers, Dylan Thomas and Montana Williams.
