Mary Ethelene Bucy, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2010, in Houston.   A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18  at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery, 1761 CR 430, Brownfield, TX 79316.

Ethelene was born on July 9, 1934, in Lubbock to James Fred Bucy and Sena Ethel Montgomery Bucy.

She is survived by her brother, J. Fred Bucy, Jr.; and sister, Charlene Baumgardner; nephews, Fred Bucy, Robert Baumgardner and Karl Baumgardner; and nieces, Roxanne Bucy Coogan, Diane Bucy Gruber, Sherrie Haynes and Barbara Baumgardner; and other family members and many dear friends.

Ethelene received her Architecture Degree from Texas Tech and was a member of MENSA. She taught art & art history at St. John's School in Houston for 15 years. After her retirement, she began her own business, Loving Pals, devoted to animal and plant care.

She was a woman of varied accomplishments, from becoming a glider pilot to excavating the Balearic Islands, mountain climbing in Peru and being an Outward Bound participant. She most recently became an expert in mycology, butterfly culture and bee-keeping.
