Brown, 93, of Brownfield went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 14,
2007. A memorial service was conducted at the Brownfield
Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, with Bob Reynolds
officiating and Derek McNamara assisting. Burial was in
the Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was one of 10 children born to Henry and Lula Kelly January 24, 1914, in Lipan. At an early age she moved with her family to Yoakum County and later to Gomez, Texas where she attended school. She grew up on a farm with her five sisters and four brothers. While attending school she met the love of her life, Earl James Brown. They married August 31, 1931 in Gomez. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted homemaker, caring for her family and working with her husband on the family farm. Mrs. Brown was a charter member of the Brownfield Church of Christ and the XYZ Senior Citizens Organization. She loved to play bridge, sew, crochet, make quilts, read, china paint, and entertain her grandchildren with words of wisdom. She also loved to travel with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Earl Brown Jr. and his wife-Eloise of Brownfield, and Dr. Kirk Brown and his wife-Ellen of Waxahachie and three daughters, Dixie Lepard of Lubbock; Beverly Morris and her husband James of Levelland, and Linda Adams and her husband Bill of Lubbock; and by one brother, Denver Kelly of Brownfield, and one sister, Maxine Webb of DeSoto. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Dr. Richard Lepard, Russell Lepard, Dr. Robert Lepard, Earl Brown III, Val Brown, Lendon Schellhase, Travis Brown, Dr. Mark Morris, Mitzi Cross, Leanne Wright, Camille Blankenbeckler, Adam Brown and Julie Johnson, 24 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, and three brothers.
