Services for Lura M. Brown, 104, of Brownfield will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Brownfield First Baptist Church Chapel with Bob Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Lura passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Runningwater Draw Care Center. She was born August 1, 1906, in Montague County to J. W. and Addie Hogue. Lura married Wayne Emory Brown on December 12, 1925. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1984.    She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Hogue and sister, Elva Montgomery and her son, Howard Wayne Brown.

Lura was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her church, where she was a member since 1920. She was active in many social organizations such as Rebekah's, Delphinium Study Club, the Democratic Party and Eastern Star. She was a past Worthy Matron and held the position of Chaplin for more than 25 years.

Lura is survived by her granddaughter, Cynda Lu Mathis and her grandson, Rick Brown; two grandchildren John Mathis and Trina Ohanian and three great-great grandchildren Yasmine, Hannah and Jacob Ohanian.

The family suggests memorials to St Jude's Childrens Research Hospital.
