services for John 'Papa' Briscoe, Jr., 83, of Brownfield were held
Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, in Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Don
McWhorter officiating.
Mr. Briscoe died Tuesday, Jan 23, 2007, in Brownfield. He was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Marlow, Okla. and was married to Dee Cabe in June 1946 in Brownfield. He moved with his family to Terry County in 1928 and graduated from Wellman High School. He farmed until his retirement. Mr. Briscoe was preceded in death by one son---Johnny Briscoe in 1971 and one sister---Peggy Sue Briscoe in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 60 years---Marjorie Dee of Brownfield and two daughters---Jamie Briscoe of Lubbock and Judy Joplin and her husband---Mickey of Levelland. He is also survived by one brother---W.T. of Seminole; two sisters---Clarene Forbes of Brownfield and Betty Lou Thompson of Erie, Pa.; three grandchildren---Chad Joplin, Jason Joplin and Angela Dehls and two great-grandsons---Aaron Joplin and Justin Dehls.
