Earl C. "Bud" Blocker, 84, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010, in Amarillo.  Graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2010, in Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 4 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.

Earl was born August 20, 1926, in New Home to W.R. and Clara Blocker. After completing high school in 1944, Earl joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1946.

He married Gladys Christesson on December 3, 1946, in Brownfield. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2002. They moved to Amarillo where he worked for the Amarillo Fire Department until 1963 at which time he returned to farming in Brownfield. He was truly an original cowboy.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Gladys; brothers: J.W. Blocker, R. L. Blocker and Carlton Blocker; sisters: Myrtie Joyner and Laverne Meeks and grandson: Newly Blocker.

Earl is survived by his mother-in-law: Goldie Christesson of Brownfield; son: Jimmy Don Blocker and wife Donna of Amarillo; daughter: Brenda Noel and husband Gary of Fort Worth; sisters: Bonnie Davidson of Clifton and Maryellen Coppinger and husband Eddie of Cortez, Colo.; grandchildren: Dr. R. Burke Noel, Kathleen Noel Romero and husband Barrett, Stefanie Noel and husband Jeffrey, Leah Echols and husband General and Tara Herring and husband Brandon and 12 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff of B.S.A. Hospice for their special care.   A heartfelt thank you to Jimmy Don and Donna Dumplin for all their loving care over the past two months.
