B. Blackwell, 87, of Brownfield were held Tuesday at Brownfield
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Smith and Rev. Otis Boring
officiating. Private burial was in Brownfield Cemetery under the
direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. J.B. passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in the V.A. Hospital in Amarillo. He was born Feb. 22, 1922 in Lancaster to John and Louiza Blackwell. He married Rosie Mae Scott on Dec. 9, 1943, in Brownfield. She preceded him in death April 6, 2001. J.B. was a WWII Air Force Veteran. He was a farmer in the Wellman and Union areas and owned and operated Blackwell's Blacksmith in Seagraves, worked for Johnson Mfg. in Lubbock and Brownfield Magneto until retiring in 1984. He is also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. J.B. is survived by three brothers, Earl of Timpson, Jessie and wife Alice of Shenandoah, Iowa and Willie and wife Burlean of Mt. View, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Ben Scott of Brownfield; two sisters, Essie Squires and husband Johnny of Shenandoah, Iowa and Anna Belle Barnes of Mt. View, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. B.
