A. "Jake" Benson, 85, of Meadow will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 19,
at the Meadow Church of Christ with Bob Dupont officiating.
Interment will follow in Meadow Cemetery under the direction of
Brownfield Funeral Home. Mr. Benson died Monday, July 16, 2007, in Brownfield. He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Tahoka to Hervey William and Ruth Benson and attended Tahoka School. He was a WWII Army Veteran who received a Purple Heart. He moved to Terry County in 1940. On February 20, 1943, he married Thelma Overman in Lubbock. Mr. Benson was on the Board of Directors for the Cotton Producers Gin, and was a member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. He formerly served on the Meadow City Council. He retired from farming in 1978. He was a member of the Meadow Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife--Thelma of Meadow; two daughters--Linda Trimmier of Uvalde and Barbara Wheeler and her husband--Wayne of Plainview. He is also survived by one brother---Bill of Bullard; one sister---JoAnn McNiel of Tahoka, and by six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Brownfield News |
