Robert J. Beasley, 83, of Brownfield were Saturday, October 6, 2007,
at Meadow First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken McClung officiating.
Interment followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the
direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The Pallbearers were: Randall
Beasley, Brandon Beardain, Blake Beardain, Cayton Meloy, Bob Sparks,
and Don Bingham.
Robert passed
away Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at his home in Brownfield. He was
born June 26, 1924, in Merkel, TX in Jones County, to John Davis and
Pearl Beasley and was a graduate of Meadow High School. He attended
Texas Tech University before his enlistment in the navy where he was
called to service in WWII. He married Felice Lucille Carmichael,
December 21, 1943, in Lubbock. She preceded him in death Aug. 13,
2006.
Robert was a farmer and rancher in Terry, Yoakum, and Cochran
Counties. He was a member of Meadow First Baptist Church where he
taught Sunday school for many years and was a lifelong member, very
active and supportive of the Democratic Party. He was a
member of the Lion's Club and a Cub Scout Master and also served on
the Brownfield Hospital Board for 12 years where he was the
President for four years.
Robert is survived by a son, Randy Beasley and wife Julie of Meadow;
a daughter Kerren Lampe and husband Richard of Lubbock; three
grandsons, Randall Beasley and wife Autumn of Lubbock, Brandon
Beardain and wife Rebecca of Wolfforth and Blake Beardain of
Lubbock; two granddaughters Brittany Meloy and husband Cayton of
Lubbock and Meghan McDougal of Lubbock; a great granddaughter Sarah
Beardain of Wolfforth. He was preceded in death by a grandson,
Patrick McDougal.
The family suggests memorials to your favorite charity, the South
Plains Food Bank, Meadow First Baptist Church, or the Patrick
McDougal Memorial Scholarship Fund at Texas Tech in Care of Dr.
Kitty Harris-Wilkes at Texas Tech University.
