Rowena Elnora Beard, 94, of Brownfield were at 2:00 pm, Tuesday,
March 16, 2010, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug
Puryear officiating. Burial was in Brownfield Cemetery under the
direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The family received visitors from 6-8 Monday at the Funeral Home. Rowena was born June 22, 1915, in Austin, Texas, to B. J. and Pearl Wallace. She moved with her parents to Pleasant Valley Community in Terry County in 1922 where she also attended school. Rowena married Ernest C. Beard in Tahoka on September 23, 1936. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1986. She worked as a nurse's aid at Brownfield Regional Medical Center from 1976 to 1985. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Beard in 1950. Rowena is survived by a daughter, June Solomon and husband Stanley, of Duncan, OK; 2 grandchildren, Jay and Shellie Solomon; and several nieces and nephews. Brownfield News |
