Doris Marie Barnes, of Midland, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008.     She was born July 21, 1930, in Olustee, Okla. to James Renfro and Anna Pepper and was raised and educated in Meadow, Texas.    On May 31, 1947, she married Jack Barnes in Ropesville.

Doris was a faithful member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ. She was an active member of GAD About RV Club for ten years. In early years she was involved with the Girl Scouts.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for Dr. John W. Foster.

She was an avid Lee Rebel fan for forty years. Doris enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, antique shopping, bridge, bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Doris is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Jack Barnes; two daughters--Terry Keais and her husband Chuck, of The Woodlands, Robbie Helms, of Lubbock; three grandchildren--Ashley Alcott, of The Woodlands, Cory Helms and wife Tifni, of Lubbock, Colby Helms, of Lubbock, and one great-grandchild, Cayden Helms, of Lubbock.

Graveside services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Meadow Cemetery in Meadow.    Pallbearers were Cory Helms, Colby Helms, Chuck Keais, Sid Smith and Fred Helms.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas, Midland, 79701.    Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland.
