Obituary for
Hazel Brown Ball

Services for Hazel Brown Ball of Brownfield were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday,
June 5, 2006, at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with J. C. Dorsett
officiating. Interment followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery
under the
direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Hazel passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Levelland where she had resided
for the past two and a half years. She was born December 14, 1915,
in Pontotoc,
Mississippi, to J. W. and Sarah Ball. She moved to Brownfield in
1925 with her
parents and was raised in the Gomez community.
Hazel graduated as valedictorian of her class. The family moved to
Brownfield
where she later worked at the Farmers Co-op as a bookkeeper until 1980.
She
attended the Primitive Baptist Church of Brownfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Caswell, who passed
away in 1994. She is survived by two sisters: Sarah Orlena
Morris of Brownfield
and Julia Kern of Morton; nephews: Barry Morris and his wife, Jayne, of
Arlington,
Texas; Loy Kern and his wife, Jackie, of Lubbock; nieces: Rita Tyson and her
husband, Ronnie, and Sheila Pollard and her husband, Bill, also of Arlington;
and a
host of great nephews and nieces.
