Glen Baker, 89, of Wellman, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009,
in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 12th, at
Brownfield Church of Christ with Homer Jones and Jerold Balwin
officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Terry
County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral
Home. Glen was born on Nov. 14, 1919 in Millsap to Allen and Willie Mary Baker. He moved with his family to Terry County in 1927 where he attended schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 23, 1942 where he was awarded several medals, including two purple hearts. He married Heloise Trotter on Jan. 24, 1948, in Brownfield and farmed in Terry County for many years. He was a member of the Seagraves Church of Christ. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Leon, Claude, Luke and Len Baker and six sisters: Lorene Loe, Naomi Caffey, Viola Howe, Iona Oliver, Willie Nell Thompson and Evelyn Adair. He is survived by his wife, Heloise Baker of Wellman; his son, Stan Baker and wife Deborah of Wellman; two daughters, Donna Frazier and her husband Richard and Rhonda Coats of Wellman; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
