Services for Houston Atchley, 80, of Brownfield, were held Tuesday, December 20,
2005, in the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Britt Atkins and Rev. Wayne Shelton
officiating. Burial was in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of
Brownfield Funeral
Home.
Mr. Atchley died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, in Amarillo. He was born
March 20, 1925,
to George Washington and Clara Atchley in Archer City and was married to Sylvia
Annette Hunt on July 10, 1972, in Lovington, NM. She died on Dec. 3,
2002.
He moved to Brownfield in 1972 and was a Terry County employee for 12 years
prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Fellowship
Baptist Church.
Mr. Atchley is survived by 3 sons: Troy Harris and wife, Christie, of Artesia,
NM;
Donnie Atchley of Iowa Park and Royce Atchley of Burkburnett.
He is also
survived by 4 daughters: Elaine McInchak and her husband, Bob, of
Fairview;
Donna Harris of Brownfield, Debra Harris of Artesia, NM, and Cathy Dyer and her
husband, Gaylon, of Brownfield.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by one sister and nine brothers.
