Salome Garcia Alaniz, 66, of Brownfield were held Friday, August 8, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial was in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Salome passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Karnes City to Jacinto and Francisca Garcia. She married Ramon Alaniz on April 6, 1964, in Brownfield. They moved to Brownfield that same year. Ramon preceded her in death April 11, 1992. She is also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Salome is survived by her daughter, Olga Garcia and husband Victor, of Midland; a son, Ramon Alaniz and wife Rhonda, of Lubbock; three brothers, Jesus Garcia of Lamesa, Martin Garcia of Plains and Greg Garcia of Kansas; two sisters, Lucia Martinez and Anita Morin, both of Brownfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
