Cody School Starts Monday
Prof. H.P. SCOTT of Point was in town Wednesday and called at this office to announcement made that school will start Monday at Cody, and as the compulsory attendance is to be six months, it will be in effect from the date of the opening of the school.  He will have as assistants his wife and Miss Bonnie Sparks.

The Cody School was contracted to Point for the 1947-1948 school year (Rains County Leader, Sept. 12, 1947)
 

February 4, 1938 Ben Arnold received the bid of $2,023.00 on the construction of the Cody School. Other bids were submitted by George Bellah, White & Jenkins of Lone Oak, and Pete Coats of Point. The building was similar to the one destroyed by fire; it had 2 rooms with cloakrooms in from and sliding doors doors were used. (Rains County Leader, February 4, 1938)

The new Cody School building was nearing completion even though there had been discussion of not rebuilding the school. Cody School pupils and teachers went to Lone Oak School after the school burned and while they were building the new school.(Rains County Leader, February 25, 1938)

The Cody School was contracted to Point for the 1947-1948 school year. (The Rains County Leader, September 12, 1947) From the census information, approximately 36 students transferred to Point school.

Cody school was on old Hwy. 69 between Lone Oak and Point. From Hwy 69 and 19 intersection in Emory, travel 10 miles on Hwy. 69N. Turn left onto FM Road 2726S. The Cody school sat approximately 1.5 miles down FM 2726 on the right.
