CLEWIS CEMETERY

From the intersection of Hwy. 19 & 69, take Hwy 19S for 0.5 mile to FM 3274S (Willow Springs Rd.); turn left onto FM 3274. Go 4.2 miles to RSCR 2300. Turn right onto RSCR 2300 and enter the main entrance gate to Greene Ranch. The cemetery is on a hill after you pass the buildings on the ranch.

Per Barbara - Clewis Cemetery is not on private property. There were two acres deeded to cemetery use by Fannie Hair Clewis. It is surrounded by private property, but the cemetery itself is dedicated to cemetery use and is not owned by theGreene family.
UPDATE
& Correction (From Barbara 12/29/2003) "I spent part of today in the Rains County courthouse trying to find the deed. I finally gave up and went another route. When Grandma sold the property, she reserved the right to bury in the cemetery, but gives "title, full control and management" to the cemetery property to Mr Green. Mr. Green's nephew still owns the property."

The Rains Co. Leader
Aug 18, 1933
R.L. Clewis Dies Sunday
R.L. Clewis, 67, pioneer citizen of Rains County, died at his home in the Willow Springs community Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock Aug 13. He had been in ill health for several years. Mr. Clewis was born in Van Zandt County and moved to this county when a small child. He had lived where he died for over 50 years, and had acquired large land holdings in the section where he resided. Mr. Clewis was a member of the Church of Christ, having joined over 30 years ago. Services were conducted at the grave by the Rev. Gayle Oler, pastor of the Church of Christ, before a large gathering who had come to pay their last respects to this good man. Burial was made in the family cemetery several hundred yards from his home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. R.L. Clewis, three sons, William, Earnest and Jess Clewis; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Arnold and Mrs. Max Orsborn; several grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Leader would offer its sympathy to the family in their hour of sorrow.
