The State of Texas
County of Rains
Before the undersigned authority on this day personally appeared R.L. Walker of Van Zandt County, Texas and being by me duly sworn on oath says that sometime in the cotton ginning season of 1906 he thinks pretty late in the season, one Clayborn sold him some seed cotton at his gin in Van Zandt county about 4-3/4 miles a little east of north from Wills Point. One of the Foreman boys was with Clayborn but Clayborn claimed the cotton as his and said their was no mortgage against it. His recollection is that he paid Clayborn somewhere about $16.00 for the cotton but he does not remember what he paid per pound. His opinion is that he paid 3 cents or 3-1/4 cents per pound. He knows he made the whole transaction with Clayborn and Clayborn alone
