Services for John Henry Hadden, 94, of Palacios, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the West Palacios Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Hugh McGruder officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Creek Cemetery in Ashby. Mr. Hadden was born July 29, 1898 to Jim and Easter Temple Hadden and he died Dec. 18, 1992 at the Leisure Lodge in Palacios. He was a retired employee of the Palacios Independent School District. He also worked many years as a rice farmer and cowboy leading herds through Matagorda, Brazoria, Galveston and Wharton Counties. Survivors include three daughters, Frances White of Freeport, Johnnie Mae Haynes of Palacios and Mildred Mathews of Freeport; one son-in-law, Andrew White of Freeport; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Ronald T. Campbell, Donald R. Campbell, Michael T. Allen, John K. Smith, Morris T. Roberts III, Edwin Hawkins, Gary Haynes, Jr., Derrick I. Porter. Honorary pallbearers are Joel Hobbs, John Haynes, Gary Haynes, Kelvin Haynes, Charles Johnson, Jr., Terry Deadrick, Kerry Matthews, Paul Matthews, Roosevelt Mathews, Byron Amboree, David Amboree and James Scott. Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Funeral services for Edna Ruth Hadden-Adams, 86, of Blessing, will be Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., at West Palacios Church of God of Prophecy in Palacios, with the Rev. Ben. Hadden, eulogist. Burial will follow at Wilson Creek Cemetery in El Maton. Visitation and guest book register will be Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Bay City. She was born December 11, 1927, in El Maton, Texas, to Milton Hadden and Lesser Peters Hadden, and passed away February 14, 2014, in Palacios. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Faye Williams; son, John Anthony Adams; grandsons, C.J. Walker and Earl Williams, Jr.; three brothers, Rev. Ben Hadden (Edna), Leland Jackson (Rose), and Freddie Jackson (Vanessa); two sisters, Gloria Crawford and Lovie Cobb (Al); and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, John Adams; daughter, Carol Darlene; three sisters, Georgia, Jessie Mae and Doris; and three brothers, James, Earcel and Nathan. Freddie Lee Jackson, 80, of Palacios, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, in Palacios.
