UHEREK, ADOLPH FRANK
Adolph Frank Uherek, 79, of Van Vleck died April 4, 2004 at
his residence. He was born August 14, 1924 in Needville to the late
Louis August and Caroline Amelia Ondras Uherek.
Mr. Uherek was a member of Harvest Time Church, a resident of Van Vleck
since 1958, a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, and was a
retired pumper with Marathon Oil.
Survivors include his loving and caring wife, Rose Mary Uherek of Van
Vleck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nova Jean and Hubert Dewayne Orr,
Caroline Mae and Vernon Ray Griffith; son and daughter, Louis Ray and
Gay Lynn Uherek all of Van Vleck; sisters, Wilsie Huffer of Old Ocean,
Janet Woodard of the Dallas area, Evelyn Galenar of Guy and Irene Rush
of Markham; brothers, Alfred Uherek of West Columbia and Raymond Uherek
of Victoria; eight grandchildren, David Orr of Cedar Lane, Franky Orr,
Chris Orr, Louis “Bubba” Uherek Jr. and Julie Griffith all of Van
Vleck, Luanne Crosby of Alto, Karen Nelson of Rosenberg and Susan
Griffith of Alvin.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lydia Bosak and Rosie Emerson;
and brothers, Lud and Henry Uherek.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Harvest
Time Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be David and Chris Orr, Joey Triplet, David Behlen,
Louis “Bubba” Uherek Jr., and Ernest Canales. Honorary pallbearers
will be Franky Orr and Steven Snyder.
The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday evening. Memorials may be made to The Hospice Support Group,

UNDERWOOD, JOHN LOUIS
Dec. 25, 1922 - Oct. 11, 2005
John Louis Underwood, Sr., 82, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, October
11, 2005, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
He was born December 25, 1922, in Rogers, Texas, to the Late Martin
Luther and Mattie Jewell Robinson Underwood.
Mr. Underwood served his country in the Army during WWII.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a
resident of Bay City since the age of 11, and retired from the First
National Bank in 1986 after 35 years of service.
Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Lillian Ann Parker Underwood of
Bay City; son, John Louis Underwood, Jr. and wife Nikole; and grandson,
Hayden Parker Underwood, all of San Antonio.
Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Rigby.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2005, at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Dr. Joe Cannon
Officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers were Tony Wells, Frank Baker, Jr., Ray Postum, Charlie
Johnson, Brent Ethington and James Barbour.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
