J. C. Stredic J. C. Stredic Funeral Services for Mr. J. C. Stredic, 69, of Bay City will be held Wednesday, September 16, 1998 at 11 a. m. at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City with Rev. K. J. Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 15 until 9 p. m. in the chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, and Wednesday from 10 - 11 a. m. at the church. Stredic was born in Pledger, Texas Tuesday, October 23, 1928 to Allen Stredic, Sr. and Letha Austin Stredic. He passed away Thursday, September 10, 1998 in Bay City. He attended public school in Wadsworth, Texas and united with Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City under the leadership of Rev. L. R. James. His career experiences included employment with Matagorda County for 35 years. He retired in 1989. Survivors include a special friend, Shirley Ray Brown of Bay City; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Brown of Markham, Patricia and Allen Paul of Houston, Alice Grice of Bay City, and Nancy and Lee, Jr. Roberson of Bay City; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse and Wilma Stredic and Roy and Gloria Ann Stredic of Bay City. Other survivors include a sister, Gussie Baldridge of Oakland, California; two brothers, Allen Stredic, Jr. of Beaumont, and Aaron Stredic, Jr. of Beaumont, and Aaron Stredic, Sr. of Bay City; as well as 18 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a family of many friends. Other than his parents, Stredic was preceded in death by his wife, Lucendy Grice Stredic in 1959; and three brothers, Washington Stredic, Ruben Stredic and Cleveland Stredic. Serving as active pallbearers will be Robert Alexander, McKinley Barnes, John L. Bonner, Spencer Green, Tim Higgins, Denton Leissner, Vernon Leissner, Robert Rollins and Elroy Higgins. Honorary pallbearers include Jesse Stredic, Roy Stredic, Corey Stredic, Jerioh Stredic, Christopher Grice, and Carl Grice. Arrangements with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, Bay City, Texas.

Vera L.Waide Vera Lee Waide Vera Lee Waide, 97, of Sweeny passed away Feb. 4, 1996 at Sweeny Community Hospital in Sweeny, Texas. She was born March 17, 1898 in Pledger to George and Amanda Amboree. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p. m. at Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pledger with Rev. C. D. Britt officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 9 from 1 to 9 p. m. Vera will lie in state at Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church Saturday from noon until 1 p. m. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Alice Mae and John Jones of Sweeny. Son and daughter-in-law Ewart and Johnnie Waide of Los Angeles, Calif., five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Wade K. Jones, John P. Jones, Jr., Damien Jones, Leonard Barnes, Lamont Barnes and Bobby Simmons. Honorary pallbearers are Ewart Waide, Raymond Jackson, Herman Spradley, John P. Jones, Sr., Unice Spradley and Deacons of Grove Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Inez Amey Wiley, 62, of Bay City will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, Bay City, with the Rev. C. L. Richardson officiating. Burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger, Texas. Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. today at the funeral home chapel. Ms. Wiley was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Ashwood to Henry Amey and Dora Mix, and died in her home on July 1, 1990. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include a special friend, I. J. Boles of Bay City; a son, Willie Wiley Jr. of Bay City, two granddaughters, Charlotte Wiley Williams of Elm Grove and Theresa Wiley Young of Houston ; three grandsons, Brian Keith Johnson of Houston, Edward Wiley and Willie Wiley III of Bay City; a great-grandson, Lamont Wiley; one great-granddaughter, Kirktrina Wiley; two sisters, Mary Lee Amey of Galveston and Gladys Robbins of Dayton. Pallbearers include Edward Wiley, Charles L. Moore, Terry Williams, Willie Wiley III, Brian Keith Johnson and Ricky Curtis. Honorary pallbearers include Willie Wiley Sr., Willie Wiley Jr., I. J. Floyd Williams Floyd Lee Williams, Sr. Funeral services for Floyd Lee Williams Sr., 62, of Houston will be held 11 a. m. Aug. 7 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel L. Mr. Williams was born July 27, 1931 in Matagorda County to Sampson and Mattie Hayes Williams and died Aug. 1, 1993 at Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Floyd Williams, Jr., the Rev. Samuel L. and Edith Williams and Alfred and Lisa Williams, all of Bay City and Phillip Williams of Houston; five daughters and sons-in-law, Pastor Florida and Anthony Smith, Floyce and Larry Bankston, Amonical Elliott and Floretta Williams, all of Bay City, and Laquita Williams of Houston; an aunt, Allie Hayes Gordon of La Marque; two uncles, Allen Hayes of Palacios and Emery Hayes of Houston; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
