Funeral services for Heral Williams, 77, of Missouri City will be held 1 p. m. Saturday at Mother Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Cedar Lane. Friends may call today at Green’s Mortuary. Mr. Williams was born July 27, 1911, in Texas to Hillery and Laura Walker Williams and died April 14, 1989, at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two daughters, Eunice Williams of Houston and Merlene Casey of Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Heral Williams Jr. of Long Beach; three sisters, Rosie Lee Williams of Freeport, Claudia Smith of Bay City, Evelyn Woods of Dickerson; five brothers, George Williams and Vanderbilt Williams both of Freeport, Thoursdon Williams of Houston, R. L. Williams of Bay City and Lloyd Williams of Hitchcock; an aunt, Mrs. Roosevelt Law of Houston; and three grandchildren, Trevis Laquinna Casey and Tanisha Casey, both of Long Beach, and Shannon Williams of Houston. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers include Vanderbilt Williams, George Williams, Lloyd Williams, Thoursdon Williams, R. L. Williams, Arthur Smith, Oscar Woods and Heral Williams Jr. Arrangements are with Green’s Mortuary, Bay City.

Levi Williams, Negro foreman and cowhand at Mr. Raleigh Sanborn’s 5X ranch for the past 20 years, was killed at the ranch Wednesday when his horse fell on him, pinning him to the ground, crushing his chest and inflicting internal injuries. A companion riding ahead of him noticed that the horse was down and rode back to find Williams unconscious. A pick-up stood near and he was rushed to the Matagorda County General hospital where he died almost immediately. He was around 50 years of age and leaves a wife and four children, all of whom reside in this part of the county. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh church, Cedar Lane, Sunday at 2:30. Funeral services for Minnie Bell Williams, 65, of Bay City are scheduled for 11 a. m. Saturday at Charity Mission Baptist Church at 5015 South Acres in Houston with the Rev. E. L. Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation will be from noon until 5 p. m. Friday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday at Charity Baptist Church in Houston Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Wadsworth to the late Jim and Janie Mae Holmes White and died Oct. 9, 1993 in Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. Survivors include her husband, J. C. Williams of Houston; four daughters, Vina Delores Williams, Margaret Williams, Jessica Williams and Ruby Brown, all of Houston; two sons, Leroy Brown of Houston and Doug Simmons of Sweeny; a sister, Evelyn Phillips of Houston; two brothers, Charles White and Jim White of Houston; an uncle, Joe Cole of Houston; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Willie Sidney Williams, 89, of Cedar Lane, TX, will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion Church, 6437 FM 521, Brazoria, TX, with Pastor E. R. Simmons officiating and Pastor Michael A. Riddick, II eulogizing. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane, TX. Willie passed away on December 7, 2022 at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Katy, TX. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, TX and was under Watch Care at Lively Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Simonton, TX. She was a member with the Olive Leaf Chapter #219 – Order of the Eastern Star and the Heroines of Jericho, the Matagorda-Brazoria County Cancer Society, and Assistant Secretary for Lincoln Southern District Association, Inc. She was employed by Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in the nursery for 15 years. Willie is preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Arie Anna Harrison; her granddaughter, Latresa Sidney; her grandson, Renold Sidney; sisters, Georgia Griggs and Johnnie Helms; and brothers, Sam Farris and Rayfield Partain. She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, William Sidney, Jr. (Lisa), Cedar Lane, Henry Sidney (Lena), Clear Lake, and Buster Sidney (Gloria), Missouri City; daughters, Dorothy Thomas, Lake Jackson and Mary Carter (Mel), Fulshear; sisters, Dorothy DeVaughn (Johnny) Pearland, Joyce Robinson, Freeport, Earnestine Bailey (Nathan), Los Angeles, CA, Bertha Edison (Robert), Sugar Land, and Linda Griggs, Rosharon; brother, Howard L. Harrison, Santa Maria, CA; Best Friend, Betty Alexander; Friend/Caregiver, Patty James; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Erika Woodard Jason & Isaac Jason Funeral services for Mrs. Erika Woodard Jason, age 30, of Fresno, Texas and her son Isaac will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at 11 a. m. at New Zion Temple Church, 1601 Ruthven (Fourth Ward) Houston, Texas, with Rev. Erika was born in Bay City, Thursday, Sept. 15, 1966, to Nathaniel Woodard and Eddie Marie Fields Woodard, and passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was a 1984 graduate of Madison High School in Houston, and furthered her education at Houston Community College, Houston, and Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View. At the time of her demise, she was employed as Federal Agent Assistant with the IRS Houston Branch. She was a member of New Zion Temple Church where she was active with The Young Ladies Group. Survivors include her husband, Arthur Jason, Jr. of Fresno, her mother, Mrs. Eddie Fields Gilbert of Houston, and her father, Nathaniel Woodard of Austin. She leaves two step-children, Carlos LaShawn Jason and Trista LaGayle Jason, and one step-granddaughter, Caneisha Jason.

Funeral services for Mr. Ethan Wright, Jr., age 22, formerly of Sweeny, Texas, will be held Saturday, May 3, at 2 p. m., at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, with the Rev. Carl Lee Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation will be Friday until 9 p. m. in the chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home. He was born in Sweeny, Texas, Sunday, Feb. 9, 1975, to Ethan Wright and Dorothy Brown Wright, and passed away Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Hermann Hospital in Houston, as a result of an accident. He was a 1993 graduate of Sweeny High School, and later attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. At the time of the demise, he was employed as machine operator with Boring Specialists, Inc. in Houston. Survivors include his parents, Ethan and Dorothy Brown Wright of Brazoria, and six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Sheri Jones (and Carl) and Ramona Wright (and Williams), all of Missouri City, Gena Richo (and Leonard), Shonya Banks (and Marshall), Leigh Ann Jackson (and Patrick), and Krista Wright, all of Clute. Also his grandparents, Lorena Williams Brown of Cedar Lane, and Alex and Melinda Wright of Brazoria. Other survivors include four aunts, Rosie Kemp (and Chester), Pinkie Johnson (and Herman), Verna Millage (and James), and Minnie Ola Johnson; as well as seven uncles, Earnest Wright (and Vera), Joe Wright (and Jewel), Alex Wright, Jr. (and Lillian), Louis Wright (and Essie Mae), John Brown, Nelson Brown and Robert Brown (and Clara). He leaves a dear friend, Benetra Bryant, seven nieces and five nephews, Devon, LaToya, Brittany, Leosha, Ebony, Bianca, Markeisha, William, Leonard, Darius, Marshall and Vernell. Also countless other relatives, a family of caring co-workers and many, many friends who knew him affectionately as “Ju Ju.” He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Israel “Bud” Brown, May 30, 1983. Mrs. Young was born in Cedar Lane on Wednesday, June 3, 1908, to Valree Allen and Emma L. Jones Allen, and died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1995, at Seabreeze Nursing Center in Bay City. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Wandalyn A. Harris (& Manson) of Bay City, and two grandchildren, Davenlyn M. Green and Leireon A. Hodges, both of Bay City. Also a great-grandson, La’Darreon PerShawn Moore. Also three step-sons, Richard C. Young of Houston, Thomas Young of Galveston, and Willie Young of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
