Funeral services for Arthur G. Smith, 76, of Bay City will be held 1 p. m. Thursday at Mother Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. K. J. Griggs officiating. Burial will be Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Green’s Mortuary and from noon to 1 p. m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Smith was born March 13, 1916 in Bay City to Charlie G. and Laura Clay Smith and he died Sept. 20 1992 at Vencor Hospital in Houston. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Claudia M. Smith; two sisters, Mildred and Jessie Goldsmith of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Woods of Dickerson and Rosie Williams of Freeport; five brothers-in-law, George and Vanderbilt Williams of Freeport, R. L. Williams of Bay City; Lloyd Williams of Hitchcock and Thurston Williams of Houston; an aunt, Elizabeth Clay of Houston; an aunt-in-law, Roosevelt Law of Houston; three nieces, Thelma Sneed of Bay City, Ernestine Livingston of Dallas and Lizzie M. Miller; a cousin, Amy Moore Young of Bay City and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Wells Clark, Willie Edison, George Fountain, J. T. Manning, John Walker and Sammie L. Wright. Honorary pallbearers are George Jr., James, Vanderbilt, Thurston, Michael, George and Lloyd Williams as well as the Mother Zion Usher Board and Layman’s Organization. Arrangements are with Green’s Mortuary, Bay City.

Anica Spiller Mrs. Anica Spiller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Page was born March 15, 1886 at the Thompson Plantation, Matagorda County, Texas. She attended public school at Gainesmore, Texas. At an early age she confessed Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Anthony Martin and became a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church, Cedar Lake, Texas where she served as a faithful member until death. She served as Worthy Patrol in the Progressive Order of Pilgrims. She was a member of the American Woodmen, an officer of the Christian Women Fellowship, and an active member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. She departed this life Sunday, February 16, at 7:30 A. M. at the Matagorda General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing a devoted daughter, Mrs. Phema Woodard; three brothers, Rev. R. H. Page, Dea. Thomas Page, Bro. Alex Page; one grandson, Roosevelt Law; two great grandchildren. She reared one child, Robert Earl Johnson, two step daughters, Mrs. Thelma Powell and Mrs. Nellie Brown, six step grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers: Roosevelt Law, Robert Earl Johnson, Louis Page, Donald Page, Elmer Aikens, Dave Ward, Sidney Trahan, Hewitt Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers: Christian Women Fellowship Service: February 21, 1969, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas Interment: Shiloh Cemetery
