Important
Elections in the School Districts of the County April 4th
and May 2nd.
For the
common school districts: For the Independent school district—voting for county board:
Bay City
independent school district-Oscar Barber, M. S. McCullough, J.
A. Jones, at Courthouse. Three County Trustees are to be elected by the whole county, including both common school and independent school districts. The law requires that at least three of the board be from common school districts, and two may be from independent school districts, conditioned, however, that there be a representative from each commissioners’ precinct. Commissioners’ precincts Nos. 1 and 4 are represented on the board, as well as two common school districts by the two holdover trustees. One trustee must be elected each from Commissioners’ Precinct No. 2 and 3, the third may be elected from any precinct. It is recommended by the Court that Dr. J. E. Simons, of Precinct No. 1 and Bay City independent school district, and Frank Vaughan, Precinct No. 2 (common school district), and J. W. Spencer of Commissioners’ Precinct No. 3 and common school district be voted upon to succeed themselves.

A year ago we organized a trustees’ association and elected Mr. Homer Goff, of Collegeport, as president. As a result of his interest and co-operation the meeting of last Saturday was one of the best in attendance that we have held. Matagorda county has 18 common school districts.
