BAY CITY - JaLaNell Tomlinson Mineau, of
Bay City, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004.
She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Bangs to the late James Lee and Noema
"Tommie" Palmer Tomlinson. She graduated from Bay City High School
in 1951 and was retired from Dow Pipeline.
Survivors: daughters, Cheryl Mineau Shufflebarger and Leslei Mineau
Enright; and sister, Noma Lee Tomlinson Joice.
Preceded in death by: son, Michael Dean Mineau.
Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel,
Don Storey officiating.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Taylor Bros.

Travis Riley
ravis Riley, 52, of Blessing died April
8, 2002 at Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was born December 17,
1949 in McAllen, Texas to Victor Vernon and Ruth Elizabeth Warner
Riley. Mr. Riley was a resident of Blessing the past two years and a
former resident of Bay City. He was a member of Harvest Time Church.
Survivors include: wife, Glenda Ayers Riley of Blessing; two sons
and a daughter-in-law, Trevor and Naomi Riley of Bay City and Mark
Riley of Corpus Christi; parents, Victor Vernon and Ruth Elizabeth
Riley of Port Lavaca; sisters, Viki Jackson of San Antonio and
Johnnie Benton of Lolita; three grandchildren, Kiana, Layla, and
Emma Riley all of Bay City; and special godchild, Emily Savage. He
was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Riley.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Harvest Time
Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements

Verulo Carbajal Rodriquez
Verulo Carbajal Rodriquez, 63, of Bay
City died June 15, 2003 at his residence. He was born February 2,
1940 in Plazuela, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Eleuterio and
Petra Rodriquez Carbajal.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, a resident
of Bay City since 1979, and a landscaper with Greenleaf Nursery of
El Campo.
Survivors include: sisters, Maria Guadalupe Carbajal-De Ruiz and
Maria Carbajal Rodriquez both of Mexico; brothers, Bonifacio
Carbajal Rodriquez of Mexico and Elevterio Carbajal Rodriquez of
California; numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary was held 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home, and the funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerry Cernoch
officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers were Ernesto Ruiz Carbajal, Ramon Carbajal de la Rosa,
Raven Ruiz Carbajal, Rafael Carbajal de la Rosa, Antonio Rico, and
Alejundro Carbajal de la Rosa.

James Edward "Jim" Rountree
James Edward "Jim" Rountree, 64, of Van
Vleck died April 9, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston.
He was born January 8, 1940 in Nansemond Co.,Virginia.
Mr. Rountree was a member of Harvest Time Church and a resident of
Van Vleck for the past 20 years. He was a millwright by trade and
worked on various constructions jobs.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Kurtz Rountree of Van Vleck;
daughter, Lisa Jean Ragle of Indian Trail, North Carolina; two sons
and a daughter-in-law, Mark Edward and Kimberly Rountree of
Greensboro, North Carolina and James Kirkman Rountree of Van Vleck;
sisters, Eunice Ann Whitley of Suffolk, Virginia and Geraldine
Rountree of Forest, Mississippi; brothers, Thomas Earl, Wilbur and
Bobby Rountree all of Suffolk, Virginia; two grandchildren, John
Adam Ragle of Indian Trail, North Carolina and Maddie Grace Rountree
of Greensboro, North Carolina;
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kirkman Rountree.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at
Harvest Time Church with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating.

Kenneth Schutz
Kenneth Schutz, 67, of Van Vleck, passed
away June 4, 2003 at the Legacy Nursing Center in Bay City, Kenneth
was born in Gonzales, Texas on February 17, 1936 to parents Herbert
and Florence Blackmon Schutz.
Kenneth was a 1955 graduate of Bay City High School and served as a
Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. He worked for
Wackenhut Security at the South Texas Electric Generating Project
for 11 years and was with the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Dept. for 1
1/2 years. He was also a member of the Bay City Bowling League.
He is survived by: wife of 44 years, Patricia Ashcraft Schutz of Van
Vleck; son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Nancy Schutz of Houston;
daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Keith Hadley of Richmond; and
grandchildren, Ronnie and Mariah Hadley and Brittany and Zachary
Schutz.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Schutz.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. June 8, 2003 at the Bay City Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment
will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Derek Schutz, Keith Hadley, Wayne O’Brien, Chuck
Skelly, Larry Schutz, and Leonard Evanicky.
Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.

Logan Shane Smith
Logan Shane Smith, 11, of Van Vleck,
passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in Houston, Texas. He was born
January 25, 1993 in Bay City to Michael Shane Smith and Jennifer
Marie Keen Smith.
He was a 5th grade student at E. Rudd Intermediate School in Van
Vleck, a member of Boy Scout Troop # 219 in Van Vleck and a member
of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his parents, Shane and Jennifer Smith of Van
Vleck; sister, Amber Smith of Van Vleck; grandparents, Nelson and
Mona Keen of Bay City, Spencer Smith of Bay City and Sherri Cartee
of Bay City; great-grandparents, Rubena Keen of Bay City, E. C.
Smith of Bay City and Doris Bouldin of Bay City; aunts and uncles,
Shannon and Lisa Smith of Corpus Christi, Troy and Tina Keen of Bay
City, Sheila Treybig of Bay City and Buddy Treybig of Matagorda;
cousins, Brooke and Dylan Smith of Corpus Christi, Maegan and
Leighton Keen of Bay City and Trey and Tyler Treybig of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Henry Bouldin,
Annie Jo Smith, W. Q. Keen, John and Mona Sellers and Edna "Granny"
Bouldin.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004 at the
First United Methodist Church in Bay City with the Rev. Pauline
Harvey and the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment followed
at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers were Pat Labay, James Teutsch, Tres Crawford, Dallas
May, Chris Yates and Ray Pawlosky. Honorary pallbearers were Richie
Story and Members of Boy Scout Troop # 219 of Van Vleck.

Leon Edward Srubar, 80, of Sargent,
passed away Friday, December 22, 2006.
He was born September 12, 1926 in Sweet Home, Texas to Edward and
Annie Srubar. He was a resident of Matagorda County since 1965, a
retired operator from Celanese Chemical Company and a veteran of the
US Navy.
He is survived by: daughter, Pamela D. McDonald of Houston; sons,
Kenneth Srubar and wife Brenda of Bay City, Roger Srubar and wife
Jimmy Gayle of Van Vleck and Daniel Srubar of Long Beach,
California; sisters, Evelyn Huntley of Victoria, Joanne Cummings of
Pt. Lavaca and Mary Ann Sawyer of Victoria; brother, Eugene Srubar
of Victoria; and eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Edna Lou Harvey Srubar; his
parents, Edward and Annie Srubar and by his brothers, Edwin and
Robert Srubar.
The Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at
Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m.
Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the
Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn

Edna Srubar, 73, of Bay City died
Wednesday August 11, 2004 in Houston. She was born December 29, 1930
in Pleak, Texas to the late Edwin and Velma Baum Harvey. Mrs. Srubar
was a 40 year resident of Bay City and a member of the Holy Cross
Catholic Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Leon E. Srubar of Bay City;
daughter, Pamela Dianne McDonald of Houston; sons and
daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda Srubar of Bay City, Roger and
Jimmy Gayle Srubar of Van Vleck, and Daniel Srubar of California;
sisters, Elise Jennings of Lanham, Maryland and Mercedes Coalson of
Bay City; brothers, Joe Harvey of Houston, Wilmeth Harvey of
Phoenix, Arizona , and Eddie Harvey of West, Texas; seven
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A rosary was held 7 p.m. Friday August 13, 2004 at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home. A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Saturday August 14,
2004 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Father Casey Jarzombek
officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van
Vleck.
Pallbearers were David, Aaron, and Mike Srubar, Chris Norton, Ray
Contreras, Mike Harvey, Buster and Harold Boggs.
Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters.

Funeral services for Don Jean
Taylor, 63, of Bay City were scheduled for 2 pm today at First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. W. E. Dugger Jr. officiating. Burial
will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.
Mr. Taylor was born Aug. 28,
1926, in Bay City to Frank Shaw and Arzilla Clark Taylor and died April
28, 1990, at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Bay
City, he was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Bobbye Smith Taylor of Bay City; step-mother, Frances Taylor of Bay
City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Ronnie Miller,
Donna and Steve Sliva and Mariann and Craig Ashcraft, all of Bay City; a
brother, Vann Shaw Taylor of Rockport; and five grandchildren, Shannon,
Jean and Clark Miller and Julia and Sam Sliva, all of Bay City.

September 14, 1930 - March 06, 2019
Rose Marie Polensky Tomek, 88, of Bay City passed away on March 6,
2019. She was born on September 14, 1930 in Wharton County to the
late Louis Polensky and Mary Cerny Polensky.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a
faithful Catholic who deeply loved her family, church and community.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Legion of Mary,
Altar Society, choir member, Catholic Daughters, CCD instructor,
Hospital Auxiliary, Girl Scout leader & consultant and Big Sister
mentor. She attended Holy Cross Catholic School and was in the first
graduating class of 1946. She was passionate about politics,
especially when they challenged her Christian morals or values.
She was married for 48 years to her late husband, Bennie Tomek.
Also preceding Rose was her son, Garry Tomek and sister, Della
Tucker.
Survivors include daughters Karen Tomek, Vivian Wagnon (Bennie),
Kathy Brangan (Mike); sons Gregg Tomek (Cindy) and Michael Tomek
(Sandra); grandchildren Garry Gregory (Charisse), Troy Gregory
(Natalie), Eric Wagnon (Morgan), Jeffrey Wagnon (Ashley), Suzanne
Brangan Boehm (John), Kaitlin Brangan Haugen (Kevin), Kyle Tomek
(Frances), Travis Tomek (Brooke), Brandon Tomek (Shelby), Patrick
Tomek, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, with
recitation of the holy Rosary following at 3:00 PM at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday,
March 11, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Korenek
officiating. A private family interment will follow at Roselawn
Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers are Garry Gregory, Troy Gregory, Kyle Tomek, Travis
Tomek, Brandon Tomek, Eric Wagnon, Jeffrey Wagnon, Patrick Tomek and
Hunter Bruening. Honorary pallbearers will be Suzanne Boehm, Kaitlin
Haugen, Dane Simons and Dennis Grassmuck.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to
Holy Cross Catholic School Foundation.
