Hubert Lee Smith Services Sunday
Hubert Lee Smith, 76, passed away at a hospital
in Freeport Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p. m.
at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Ferman Weedon and Rev.
Billy Norton officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Survivors are, his wife, Mrs. H. L. Smith of Bay
City; three daughters, Mrs. W. F. Holt, Lake Jackson; Mrs. E. B.
Roberts, Jr., Brownsville and Mrs. Don Jean Taylor of Bay City; nine
grandchildren, including Mrs. James H. Hingle of Empire, La., and
two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Butter, Bill Cooper, C. L.
Orr, Mack Sansing, E. J. Howard and Preston Williams.

James W. Smithey, 68, of Bay City, died
April 3, 2005 at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He was born March 19, 1937, in Commerce, Texas, to the late Leo Rush
and Lucy Dean Smithey.
Mr. Smithey was a long-time resident of Bay City and was the former
owner of the Smithey's Pawn Shop and Smithey's Wrecker Service.
He also was a longtime foreman for the James Kinard grass farms.
Survivors include: his wife, Belle Smithey of Bay City; children,
Ray and Sherry Smithey of Bay City, Robert and Angie Edmonston of
Conroe, Texas, Shelly and Jeremy Linkhart of Houston, and Tina
Phillips of Beaumont; sister, Christine Smithey Clark of Rockwell,
Texas; brother, Jerold Dean Smithey of Hurst, Texas; grandchildren,
Rebecca Nicole Smithey of Bay City, Amy K. Miller and husband Steve
of Bay City, Jonathan C. Varnell of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, Eric
Alan Varnell and wife Sonja of Parachute, Colorado, Bo Kent of
Conroe, Shauna Edmonston and Kevin Edmonston, both of Germany,
Kassie Phillips of Bay City, Summer Brandstatt of Palacios, Chris
Lamb of Conroe, Texas, Hunter Linkhart and Travis Linkhart, both of
Houston, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Erika Grimes of Bay City,
Texas; and his beloved and close friend, James Kinard of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Betty Jean Smithey; and
two brothers, Leo Charles Smithey and Bobby Joe Smithey.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Taylor
Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Villarreal officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike and Mark Stone, Gary Murphree, Tim Tucker,
Wayne George and Claude Hales.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening
at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

SARGENT - Graveside memorial services
for Raymond J. Taggart, Sr., 82, of Sargent will be at 10 a.m. on
Friday, May 18, 2007 at Roselawn Cemetery in Van Vleck. VFW will
perform the military honors.
Mr. Taggart was married to Ruth Taggart for 62 years and died on May
14, 2007 at his home with friends and family around him.

Eva Elizabeth Machac Tenberg
Eva Elizabeth Machac Tenberg, 82,
formerly of Bay City passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000. She was
born in Yoakum, Texas on Oct. 19, 1918.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Tenberg, her parents,
Frank and Annie Machac, and brother, Johnny Machac.
She is survived by: her son, Max and his wife, Phyllis of Warrenton,
Va.; three grandchildren and their spouses; Sharon Fairbrother and
her husband, Andy; Tanya Scott and her husband, Rodney; and Jason
Tenberg and his wife, Nicole; four great-grandchildren, Taylor,
Riley, Reese, and Rutger Scott; sister-in-law, Leonita Machac from
Yoakum, Texas; brother-in-law, Harvey Tenberg from Schertz, Texas;
several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, from Texas.
Eva was a school teacher for 29 years until her retirement in 1977.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross Altar
Society, The Catholic Daughters of America, the Delta Kappa Gamma
Society and the Matagorda County Teacher's Credit Union. She served
as the choir director for numerous years in the Holy Cross Catholic
Church and was active in civic activities in Bay City. She moved to
Virginia on April 15, 1995 after living in Bay City for over 50
years.
Eva touched the lives of many members of the Bay City community. The
many students she taught so well; the parents of the students; and,
the many friends she enjoyed throughout her life, can attest to the
fact that she was a lady with many fine attributes. She was an avid
traveler and a great conversationalist.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2000
at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be at the
Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City on Thursday, December 14,
2000 at 10 a.m. with the Father Casey Jarzombeck officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Lowell Dickey, Richard Amthor, Ron Rice, Rodney
Scott, Kelby Pennington and Louis Landry. Honorary pallbearers will
be the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus.

Bernhard E. Tenberg, 60, of Bay
City, died in Santa Rosa, N. M. June 28,1980 while on vacation.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3rd
and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Bay City resident
since 1945 and retired from the BCISD in January 1980 after 26
years as maintenance supervisor. Survivors include wife, Eva
Tenberg of Bay City; son, Max Tenberg of Bay City; sister, Mrs.
W. W. Kirby of LaMarque, brother Harvey Tenberg of Schertz and
three grandchildren. Services will be held at Holy Cross
Catholic Church Tuesday, July 1 at 10 am with the Rev. Charles
Sonnier officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial
Park. Prayer services will be held at 8 pm Monday at Taylor
Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers include: S. M.
Landrey, Paul Pennington, Roosevelt Thomas, Eddie Jemenek, Hugh
Peabody, Wayne Bender. Honorary pallbearers, Edwin Kana, George
Knebel, Nathan Blum, Ford Smith, Bob Peterson, F. J. Milberger
and Henderson Polk. The family requests donations be sent to

Kaylee Ann Tise, 6 months, of Markham
was taken from us on Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. She was born in Baytown,
Texas on Aug. 3, 1999 to Linda and Johnny Tise of Markham.
She is survived by: her mother and father; brother, Alan Magee of
Markham; maternal grandparents, Joe and Ofelia Mendoza of Markham;
paternal grandparents, Andrea Fitzpatrick of Reading, Penn; Tina
LaFoy of Baytown, Joe T. Mendoza of Markham, J. D. Gates of Lufkin,
Harold Jr and Jo Ann Harper of Markham, Charley and Angelica Hebert
of Markham; cousins Harold III, Edge Raven, Damien Rex Harper, and
Jareth Kane Hebert all of Markham.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at

Charles Richard "C. R. " Tweedle, 74, of
Bay City died at his son's residence in Clute, Texas with his loving
family by his side. He was born February 26, 1926 in Palacios to the
late William Presley and Margaret Ann Krauser Tweedle.
Mr. Tweedle was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and a
lifelong resident of Matagorda County.
He served as a adult leader for the Bay City 4-H Club, was selected
as Father of the Year by the Bay City FFA Chapter, and umpired
Little League baseball games.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck Cordes
of Friendswood; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Diane Tweedle of
Clute; step-daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Roy Lackey of College
Station; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Glenda Coleman
Jr. of Sweeny, Don and Donna Coleman of Sugarland, Tommy and Lilly
Coleman of Bay City; sisters, Betty Lou Bryant and Patsy Jean
Tweedle of Matagorda, Joyce Ann Uherek of Damon; brothers, William
Paul and Roy Edward Tweedle both of Palacios, Richard Lee Tweedle of
Bay City; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lee Tweedle on February 15, 2000.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at
Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jennie Jones
officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park
Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Funeral services for Ruby Lee Tweedle,
76, of Bay City will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Taylor

Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Taylor Bros. Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Tweedle died February 15, 2000 at Matagorda General Hospital in
Bay City. She was born August 14, 1923 in Karnes City, Tex. to the
late Carl and Sigrid Grill Swenson.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and a long time
resident of Bay City and Matagorda Co.
Survivors include: husband, Charles R. Tweedle of Bay City;
daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Roy Lackey of College Station,
Kathy and Chuck Cordes of Friendswood; sons and daughters-in-law,
Ernest Raymond and Glenda Coleman, Jr. of Sweeny, Don and Donna
Coleman of Sugarland, Tommy and Lilly Coleman of Bay City, Ronald
and Diane Tweedle of Clute; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lola and
Roy Jensen of Wharton, Mary and Leslie Roeder of Jasper; 11
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Ernest Raymond
Coleman, Sr., and by four brothers, Carl, Clarence, Oscar, and
Charles O. Swenson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Michael, Randall, and Paul David
Coleman, Derek Tweedle, Chris Lackey, Tim Moore, Glen Briggs and
Brad Lackey.
