Micaela Garcia Hernandez
Funeral services for Micaela Garcia Hernandez, 100, of Van Vleck,
were held at 2 p. m. Monday, Nov. 21, 1994, at the Rose of Sharon
Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Janie Robles officiating. Burial
was in Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Mrs. Hernandez was born June 2,
1894, in Monelova, Coahuila, Mexico, to Mateo and Estanislada
Zamarron Hernandez and died Nov. 19, 1994 at her home.
Formerly of McAllen, she has
resided in Van Vleck for the past seven years and was a member of
the Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church in Bay City.
Survivors include two daughters,
Sabina H. Ramirez of Van Vleck and Dominga H. Lira of Edinburg; two
sons, Vacilio Hernandez of Woodville, Calif., and Leon Hernandez of
Florida; 40 grandchildren and 39 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and her husband, Heriberto Hernandez and son, Manual
Hernandez.
Pallbearers are Bert Munoz, Ray
Garza, Tony Pompa, Louis Carrion, Tito Mendez, Ruben Ramirez,
Joaquin Lira and Manuel Lira.
Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

Andy Hodges
Andy Hodges, 44, of Bay City died July
8, 2002 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
He was born September 23, 1957 in Pasadena, TX to Orville Andrew and
Frances Irene Lewis Hodges, Sr. Andy was a lifelong resident of Bay
City and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sweeny.
Survivors include: wife, Nelda Gay Grisham Hodges of Bay City;
daughters, Amy Lynn and Joanna Dawn Hodges both of Bay City; mother
and step-father, Frances and Frank Trimyer of Tivoli, TX; maternal
grandmother, Louise Lewis of Tivoli; father-in-law, Richard Eaton
Grisham of Bay City; sister, Cindy Jones and husband Jay of Red Oak,
TX; brothers, Dennis Hodges of Bay City, Jerry Hodges and wife
Crystal of Riverside, CA; step-sisters, Arlene Carter and husband
Larry of Terrell, TX, Brenda Sparks and husband Dennis of Waco, TX,
Lisa Zortman and husband Jim of Virginia Beach, VA; and Janac Mesa
and husband Romulo of Port Lavaca, TX; 17 nieces and nephews and
four great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
father Orville Andrew Hodges, Sr. and his grandfather Bill Lewis.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at the
First Baptist Church of Sweeny with the Rev. Jerl Watkins
officiating.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church of
Sweeny.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 402 N. Main,
Sweeny, TX 77480.

VAN VLECK - Blake Douglas
Hopkins, infant son of Michael Wayne and Jennifer Louise
Turner Hopkins of Van Vleck, died Friday, March 26,
2004.
Blake was born Dec. 30, 2003, in Houston.
Survivors: grandparents, Johnny Hopkins of Old Ocean,
Karen Poss of Van Vleck, James Douglas Turner of Lake
Wells, Fla., and Susan Ashbrook of Cedar Lane;
stepgrandparents, Regina Hopkins of Old Ocean, Tony Poss
of Van Vleck, Patricia Turner of Lake Wells, Fla., and
Victor Ashbrook of Cedar Lane; and great-grandparents,
Sybel Spencer of Bay City, and Kenneth Rogers and Viola
Rogers, both of Yoakum.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn
Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck, the Rev. Jack

Ann Jacobs
Ann Jacobs was born May 21, 1919 in
Buffalo, NY. She was married to J. Kemble Jacobs in 1938 and
together they bore 13 children. Kemble went to to be with the Lord
in 1983, and two children preceded her in death. Joseph Daniel
Jacobs passed away in 1985 and Mary Frank Jalufka in 1994.
Other surviving children are: Paul Kemble Jacobs of SC, David Jacobs
of Austin, Martha White of Dickinson, Virginia Linville (Robert)
Hindman of Portland, Phillip Jacobs of Alvin, Linda (Roger) Curtner
of Victoria, Roberta Sheppard of League City, Rachael (Dennis) Malek
of Pearland, Michael (Vicki) Jacobs of Van Vleck, Debra Jacobs of
Pearland, and Mark (Kim) Jacobs of Van Vleck; grandchildren, Cheryl
and Curtis White, Frank Jalufka, Liz Chilek, Tim and Todd Linville,
Jamie Jacobs, Laura Curtner (deceased in 1996), April Curtner, Bret
and Josh Sheppard, Denise and Nicole Malek, Christina and Kyle
Jacobs, Taylor and Blake Jacobs; 12 great grandchildren; special
honorees, John White, Frank Jalufka and Ronny Linville.
Ann Jacobs was a christian since childhood, attended the Church of
God of Prophecy for 64 years, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed
gardening, attending Christmas and Easter pageants, and taking trips
was especially meaningful in her later years. She was gifted in
sewing, cooking and management skills and enjoyed a long-time
spiritual walk with the Lord. She made her home in Van Vleck since
the early 1940s until the last several years when she moved to Bay
City. She provided spiritual and academic guidance to her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and nurtured a strong work
ethic.
She enjoyed poetry and her love of history, music, and poetry
committed to memory flowed freely. She extended a hand of friendship
to many people and will be missed by many whose lives she touched.
She was especially attentive to the needs of the residents of Tejas
Cove Senior Community where she resided in Bay City for the past
several years.
Services were held at the Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. James
Logan officiating on Tuesday, October 29, 2002. Public viewing was
Monday, October 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bay City Funeral Home.
Interment was at Roselawn Garden Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Curtis White, Brett and Josh
Sheppard, Tim and Todd Linville and Kyle Jacobs. A00014B2002OT30

Maudie Janise
Funeral services for Maudie Janise, 74, of Bay City will be held
2:30 pm Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. James
Brunner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van
Vleck. A rosary will be held 6:30 today at Taylor Brothers Funeral
Home Chapel
Mrs. Janise was born Aug. 31, 1915 in Matagorda County to Martin and
Fidela Goodman Loose and died Nov. 13, 1989, at New Hope Manor
Nursing Home, Cedar Park, Texas.
A lifelong of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth. Survivors
include four daughters, Shirley Hale of Wadsworth, Odell Cartwright
of Cedar Park, Vivian Black of Van Vleck and Carol Lowrie of
Danbury; four sons, Eddie Janise of Wadsworth, Harry Janise of
Angleton, Morris Janise of Rosenberg and Fred Janise of Brazoria;
six sisters, Irene Konkle of Boling, Agnes Janise of Bay City, Annie
Zubereck of Liverpool, Katheryn Harvey of New Amsterdam, Texas,
Lillian Mitchell of Bay City and Bernice Alexander of Palacios; a
brother, Marcel Loose of Bay City; and 26 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Nathan Janise, Carlton Janise, Criss Janise,
Robert Hale, Jeffery Black, Leon Weldon, Lenard Lowery, Jayson
Janise and John Cartwright.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Janise in 1962 and a
daughter, Doris Weldon, in 1988. Arrangements are by Taylor
Brothers Funeral Home.

Edward Juarez
Edward Juarez, 72, of Bay City died
February 21, 2003 at Matagorda General Hospital. He was born
December 25, 1930 in George West, Texas to the late Jose and
Angelita Gutierrez Juarez, Sr. He was a life long resident of Bay
City and Wadsworth.
Survivors include: daughter, Margarita Juarez of Bay City; sisters,
Olivia Cervantes of Van Vleck, Rosie Quintania of Bay City, and
Guadalupe Ortiz of Hereford, Texas; brothers, Brijido “Mickey”
Juarez of Wadsworth, Joe “Pepe” Juarez, Jr. of Bay City, Benito
Juarez of Matagorda , and Fernando “Duke” Juarez of Bay City; three
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister: Eugenia J. Villarreal and by
his brothers: Felix, Gregorio and Jesus Juarez; and son Alfred Lynn
Juarez.
A rosary service was held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor Bros. and the
funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at
Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Abdia Rodriguez officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van
Vleck.
Pallbearers will be Robert Gomez, Vincent and George Juarez, Danny
Quintania, Bernardino Villarreal, and Pete Cervantes, III.
