Albert F. Gest, 79, of Bay City, died Oct. 7 at his residence.  Survivors include: wife, Ida Magdalena Gest; son, Roy A. Gest of Friendswood; sister, Mrs. Alma Foerster of Bay City, granddaughter, Sally Geelan of Houston; 3 grandchildren, Andrea Geelan, Jonna Geelan and Shellee Lasiter all of Houston.  Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 8 at 4 pm at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. James Thompson officiating.  Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.  Pallbearers: Henry Sherrer, Le Roy Sherrer, Kenneth Sherrer, Walter Mayer, Ernest Wilde, and Coy Ramsey. Arrangements under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Martha Pearl Boultinghouse Gossett, 78, of Bay City, died Sunday, July 9, 2000.

She was born Dec. 24, 1921 in Francitas, to the late Marshall Franklin and Dora Mae Sexton Boultinghouse.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Bay City Baptist Church.

Survivors: daughters, Dora Gossett Zetterberg and Charlotte Gossett Wright, both of Bay City; son, Norman Wayne Gossett of Rusk; sister, Myrtle Harrington of Galveston; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her husband, J. C. Gossett; parents; sister Ola Mae White; brothers, Floyd Boultinghouse, Raymond Boultinghouse, and James Boultinghouse.

Graveside services will be 3 pm Friday at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, the Rev. Lee Watson officiating.

Robert D. Gratzer
(November 24, 1918 - December 13, 2008)

Robert D. Gratzer, 90, of Bay City passed away Dec. 13, 2008. He was born Nov. 24, 1918 in Louisville, KY to the late Robert Bernard & Margaret Dean Gratzer. He attended the University of Louisville and worked for many years as an accountant. He moved to Texas in 1954 and remained an avid golfer and tennis player well into his eighties.

His wife Shirley Besendorf Gratzer and daughter Rose Gratzer McGreevy preceded him in death. Survivors include daughter Geraldean Gratzer of Spring ; sons Bobby Gratzer & wife Merrye of Katy and Gary Gratzer & wife Ginny of Sargent; sister Mary Gratzer Bush of Colorado Springs; brother-in-law Joe Besendorf & wife Evelyn of Louisville; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be private.

Mildred E. Grice, 74, of Watagua, TX, died June 6, 2000 at North Richmond Hills Hospital. She was born June 3, 1926 in Blessing to the late Frank and Mary Zboril. Mrs. Grice was a member of the Catholic church, a resident of Watagua for the past three months and a former resident of Bay City.

Survivors include; daughter, Cathy Hymas of Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, John and Cathy Davis of Watagua; sisters, Alice Havrin of Houston and Georgie McRay of Bay City; brother, James Fink of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Grice of Louisiana, Jason Davis of Watagua, Windy Grice of Houston and Nicole Davis of Watagua.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City and the funeral mass will be at noon Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Rosalinda G. Navarro, 47, of Van Vleck died Saturday in Van Vleck.

She was born May 20, 1953 in Littlefield, Texas to Chrisantos and Ermine Roslaez Guia.

She is survived by: husband, Tony Navarro of Van Vleck; mother, Ermine Guia of Markham; daughters, Laura Trevino of Van Vleck, Norma Gonzales of Bryan, and Maranda Navarro of Van Vleck; sons, Celestino Gonzales, Jr. of Bryan, Tony Navarro, Jr., and Mark Anthony Navarro both of Van Vleck; sisters, Diana Cruz and Mary Lou Gomez, both of Markham; brothers, Pete and Ernest Rodriguez, both of Markham; and six grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral home. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 18, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Funeral services for George Warren Hall, 73, of Bay City will be held at 2 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Sonnier and the Rev. David Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.

Mr. Hall was born July 22, 1914, in Miami, Fla., and died Aug 18, 1987 at Matagorda General Hospital.

Survivors include: wife, Pilar Araujo Hall of Bay City; and Donna Kathleen Carter of Tallahassee, Fla., grandchildren, Kelly Kathleen Bowers of Bay City, George Marshall Bowers of Alpine, Texas, Earl Branden Carter of Tallahassee, Fla., and Kendall William Carter of Tallahassee, Fla. Also survived by Carl and Lois McElrath, Jobeth McElrath, and Lizzette McElrath, all of Bay City.  He is preceded in death by Roberta McElrath Hall in 1969.

He was a member of the Catholic Church, a resident of Bay City since 1937 and was named Outstanding Rice Farmer of the Year in 1968. Arrangements under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

Elma Whittlesey Hamilton, 82, of Bay City, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Bay City.

She was born June 21, 1917, in Groveton, Texas, to Oscar Leslie and Laura Leona Clements Whittlesey.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bay City.

She is survived by: her husband, W. C. Hamilton of Bay City; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Hamilton Jenkins and husband Calvin of Bay City, Ginger Hamilton Maddox and husband Jim of Conroe, Texas; son, Larry Dean Hamilton of Bay City; grandsons, Clifton Keith Jenkins and wife Karen, all of Bay City, and Timothy Ryan Stapleton of Conroe, Texas; granddaughter, Lori Nicole Stapleton of Houston; great grandsons, Ryan Keith Jenkins and Nicholas Andrew Jenkins; and great granddaughter, Brittany Cape Jenkins, all of Bay City; brother, Ferrell C. Whittlesey of Trinity, Texas; beloved twin sister, Alma Whittlesey of Cedar Lane, Texas, and Vera Clements Wilbur of Galveston, Texas.

She is preceded in death by: sisters, Mispah Otella Whittlesey Warren, Mary Whittlesey Matthews, Amy Whittlesey; and one brother, Floyd L. Whittlesey.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Lanigan and the Rev. Kevin Flannery officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers include Clifton Keith Jenkins, Douglas Hamilton Jenkins, Timothy Ryan Stapleton, James L. Hamilton, Kyle Hudgins and Todd Anderson.

Walter C. Hamilton, 82, of Bay City died September 27, 2001 at Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was born March 10, 1919 in Matagorda County to the late Walter Cape and Tommye Omega Washburn Hamilton. He was member of the First Christian Church and a lifelong resident of Bay City and Matagorda County.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra H. and Eugene Jenkins of Bay City and Ginger H. and Jim Maddox of Conroe, Texas; son Larry D. Hamilton of Bay City; sister, Susie Ruth Werlla of Vidor, Texas; brother, Jack W. Hamilton of Bay City; grandchildren, Clifton Jenkins, Douglas Jenkins and wife Karen all of Bay City, Lori Andersen and husband Todd of Houston and Timothy Stapleton of Georgetown, Texas; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elma Hamilton; sister, Flora H. Clements; and brothers Harry Hamilton and Jim E. Hamilton.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2001, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Jack McMahon officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
