Home of M.
Hockey - Palacios, Tex. Open House at Old Hockey Home Many of the early homes in Palacios are now being renovated and lived in. One of these homes, pictured above, at 601 4th Street, was that of the Hockey family who moved to Palacios about 1906. Even though the house remained in the possession of the family until recently, many Palacios citizens recall having boarded or rented here. At one time this house was made into a dual dwelling down stairs and rooms rented out upstairs. This house remained the possession of the Hockey family until the settling of the estate after the death of Ethel Hockey in April 1974. It was sold to the local minister of the Church of Christ, Nolan E. Balch and his family in the spring of this year. They began to restore it to a single dwelling, moving into it in late June. Many Palacios residents have expressed an interest in seeing inside the old home. The N. E. Balch family along with the Cornell Prindle family are hosting an Open House Saturday, December 20th from 5 to 7 p. m. Everyone is welcome to come see the progress being made in restoring this old home. Palacios Beacon, December 18,

Two Ladies Hurt
Palacios, Texas, July 22.—Palacios presents a sad sight this morning. Many were hurt in the storm yesterday, but only two were seriously injured.
An uncompleted brick block or a part of the upper story wall was blown upon an adjoining residence of Mr. Hogan, a corrugated iron building, which was crushed in. Mrs. Hogan and her daughter were badly but not necessarily fatally injured.
