Funeral services for Maria Longoria Robles were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, Nov. 27, in the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A prayer service was held in the Chapel at 7 p. m. Friday, November 26. Daughter of Charles and Faustino Rojas Longoria, she was born December 2, 1937 in Palacios. A life-long resident of Palacios, she was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. She was killed when struck by a car Thursday, November 25, in Bay City. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Longoria, Sr.; 2 daughters, Ina Marie and Gloria Robles; 2 sons, Steve Trevino, Faustino Longoria and Benito Martinez, all of Palacios; 3 sisters, Eva Trevino and Dora DeLeon of Palacios, Marina Placencio of New Mexico; 5 brothers, Lupe, Charlie, Felix and Frank Longoria, all of Palacios and Danny Longoria of Virginia.

Mr. Rocha was born April 16, 1908 in Shreveport, La. to Thomas and Torivia Sepeda Rocha. He died Nov. 5, 1995 at Wagner General Hospital in Palacios. Funeral services for Felipe “Chato” Rocha, 78, of Palacios were held Aug. 21, 1995 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Mechan officiating. Burial was in Palacios Cemetery. Mr. Rocha was born June 10, 1916 in Matanala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Martin and Concepcion Jinez Rocha. He died Aug. 17, 1995. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Rocha was a retired maintenance worker for the City of Palacios. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Aurora Garcia Rocha of Palacios; sons Frank Rocha, Jessie Rocha and Alfred Rocha, all of Palacios; sisters, Maria R. Tobias, Juana Morales and Atanacia Trevino, all of Palacios; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Bell Rockenbaugh, who died of an apparent heart [attack] Friday, October 7, were held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, October 9 at the Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. J. R. A resident of Palacios most of her life, she was born November 3, 1901, in Leander, Texas, daughter of Paul Douglas Linebarger and Rebecca Adkins Linebarger. On November 9, 1920, at the old Baptist College here, she married John Rockenbaugh and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband and only daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Nellie Rockenbaugh of Palacios; one sister, Mrs. Sue Kindig of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, George Snapp of Rockport and two granddaughters, Janet and Cathy Rockenbaugh.

Funeral services for John King Rockenbaugh, Jr., 68, of Palacios, were held May 23, 1998 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. Interment will be at the Palacios Cemetery. Mr. Rockenbaugh was born Feb. 1, 1930 at Turtle Creek near Palacios to the late John King and Bessie Belle Linebarger Rockenbaugh, Sr. He died May 20, 1998. A life long resident of Palacios, Mr. Rockenbaugh graduated from Palacios High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. He had interests in ranching and real estate and was employed by Aluminum Company of America as a crane operator and potman. In 1979 he took early medical retirement from Alcoa with over 29 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Thompson Rockenbaugh of Palacios; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Janet Nell Rockenbaugh of Angleton and Cathy Ann and Robert McCauley of Gonzales; 1 granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn McCauley of Gonzales; several cousins including Frankie Faye Cooper and Lucille Alton both of Palacios. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth Rockenbaugh Jacob. Pallbearers were Billy Morton, Paul Cooper, Kenneth Hamlin, Robert Holloway, John Ressler and Richard Sanders. Honorary Pallbearer will be George Sparks. In lieu of usual contributions, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. Born September 9, 1897 in Abilene, Texas, a son of J. E. and Martha Pierce Rockenbaugh, he had been a resident of Palacios for 56 years. He and Bessie Linebarger were married November 9, 1920 at the old Baptist College. To this union two children were born, a daughter and a son. He passed away in Wagner General Hospital Sunday, February 13. He is survived by his wife, daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Jacob; son, John K. Rockenbaugh, Jr., all of Palacios; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Mae Stallard of Palacios, Mrs. Kate Perkins of San Antonio, Mrs. Mamie Blasingame of Dallas; one brother, Rick Rockenbaugh of Kosse and two granddaughters, Jane and Cathy Rockenbaugh.

A homemaker and retired educator, Mrs. Rodriguez was a resident of Houston for the past 15 years and was a devout Roman Catholic, Mrs. Rodriguez is preceded in death by her husband Juan O. "John" Rodriguez; one son, Jessie Rodriguez in 1982; and two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Julie Champion of Edinburg; Margaret Vargas of Palacios; Mary Long and De Dupree, both of Houston; two sons, John Rodriguez and Pete Rodriguez both of Palacios; Forty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mike Rodriguez were held at 3 p. m. Monday, December 11, at the Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. B. G. Vera officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery. A resident of 814 Morton, he was born in Palacios on March 27, 1922 and died of injuries received Saturday evening when his car crashed into the rear of the truck loaded with lumber about four miles west of Blessing on FM 616. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Wagner General Hospital, when carried there by the emergency vehicle of the Palacios Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Eva; three sons, Manuela, Michael and Johnnie; his mother, Mrs. Angela Solis; a sister, Viola Rodriguez, and a step-brother, John Pena.
