Mr. Price was unable to get her in the house by himself and telephoned to his son-in-law, Calvin Douglas, who, with E. A. Linquist, rushed to his assistance. A physician was called and everything possible done but without avail. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. A. Derrick, and interment made in Palacios Cemetery. Obituary next week. Palacios Beacon, December 13, 1928 Eula Octovia Matthews Price Eula Octovia Matthes was born February 8, 1876, in Cleburn County, Alabama. It was here she grew to young womanhood giving her bit of service to friends and relatives in a quiet way. She became a member of the Baptist church early in life and taking God as her pattern has lived a life of service for her family and friends. The school room held aspirations and opportunities for her so she taught three terms in the Country school of her community. She was married to J. R. Price Nov. 8, 1896. To this union was born three children, one boy and two girls. The boy died in infancy. In 1907 the family moved to Iredell, Texas, where they lived until 1918, when they came to Palacios. Since then she has been among us making many friends. She went about her daily routine in a quiet unassuming way, and though she was not well, she never complained, but spoke words of comfort and cheer to those who came in touch with her. She had a happy way of looking at life and found comfort in God’s promises of a better day. Her motto was always to make life pleasant for others. God has called this good woman to her heavenly home leaving her beautiful life as a comfort to her husband, daughters, friends and other relatives who mourn her loss.
